Welcome to Casa Arnel

Casa Arnel stands as an inviting sanctuary nestled in the heart of Oaxaca de Juárez's charming Barrio de Jalatlaco. With a solid rating of 4.2, this hotel offers more than just accommodation; it delivers an experience immersed in history, nature, and community.

Stepping into Casa Arnel, guests are greeted by a lush, verdant courtyard—a faithful testament to the saying that nature calms the soul. Towering plants and vibrant greenery create an intimate “in-house jungle” atmosphere that captivates visitors, especially during the rainy season when the foliage flourishes. Parrots frequently grace the space, adding bursts of vibrant color and lively morning serenades that enliven the serene setting.

The hotel's architecture and decor speak of a different era, embracing a rustic charm that evokes nostalgia without sacrificing comfort. The labyrinthine walkways lead guests from one tranquil seating nook to another, each carefully arranged amidst the greenery to foster reflection and restful repose. This timeless setting, far from modern minimalism, feels both quaint and tastefully curated, reflecting the rich cultural fabric of Oaxaca.

Location is one of Casa Arnel's strongest assets. Situated at Aldama 404, it provides direct access to the cobblestone streets and historical jewels of the neighborhood, including the stone-built San Matías Jalatlaco church and local chocolate shops that whisk visitors into authentic Mexican traditions. This makes Casa Arnel an excellent base for travelers seeking to blend comfort with cultural immersion.

The hotel staff, notably Jennifer at the reception, are praised for their attentiveness and genuine hospitality. Their commitment elevates the stay from mere lodging to a personal experience, ensuring each guest's needs are met with warmth and precision.

However, while the ambiance and service excel, the hotel’s technological offerings show room for improvement. The Wi-Fi connection has been noted as insufficient for business travelers who require reliable internet access, suggesting an opportunity for Casa Arnel to upgrade and align more closely with modern connectivity expectations.

Over decades, Casa Arnel has remained a beloved choice among diverse guests—from university groups to families celebrating milestone events—affirming its place as a nurturing, enduring retreat. It embraces the spirit of Oaxaca, combining the vibrancy of its natural surroundings with the depth of its cultural heritage.

In essence, Casa Arnel is not just a hotel but a living, breathing experience. It invites travelers to slow down, immerse in verdant tranquility, and explore the rich textures of Oaxaca’s soul. Ideal for those who cherish character and calm, it stands as a green oasis in a bustling cultural landscape.

Lovely place with a beautiful courtyard absolutely covered in plants and greenery (at least in the rainy season..). And parrots during the day! Also a nice roof terrace connected with a neighbouring bar.

I actually love this place. It is a bit older and so atmospheric. The room surround a beautiful garden with huge well established plants. Actually a little piece of in house jungle. Full of birds to entertain you in the mornings and hot afternoons. It is a labyrinth of walk ways moving from one beautiful seating area to the next. Not modern, not new but quaint and tasteful with madonna's mini templos and views over the city. My single room had a double bed and strangely after a year of travelling gave me the best nights sleep in a long time. A firm not to hard mattress and absolutely quiet and peaceful. The room was cleaned meticulously every day. Only shame was that breakfast was not included and the room rate was a bit pricey through Booking. A fantastic location too. Safe and very convenient.

Fantastic place to stay. You can't beat the location. Jennifer at reception has incredible attention to detail and very friendly service. She was helpful at making sure I had everything I needed. Thank you

I have been staying at Casa Arnel for over 30 years. My groups of university students have, without exceptions, enjoyed and flourished within the offerings of the people and accommodations of Hotel Casa Arnel. My most recent visit in March, 2025 was to celebrate a major birthday with family and friends.

Great location and the inner courtyard is a beautiful green sanctuary. However, the Internet is below standard and while traveling abroad for business, it is not robust enough to stay in contact with necessary platforms. They should invest in a substantial upgrade and instead of a series of residential routers get a dedicated business service provider.
